A Time to Celebrate LOVE!
We have been making handmade valentine's to give to some of our friends that we will see tomorrow. I wanted to share my kids great paper crafting skills. (I forgot to take actual pictures of them during the process.)
I did a good job of letting my scrap-aholic craziness go and not care how they glued things on.
I was careful not to be too stingy with my ribbon or buttons that I use for scrapbooking (and that stuff can get real expensive!)
We made nearly 20 valentines in all!
Card making of any type is a great way to show some love and teach your kids special ways to reach out to people. They love the creating process. Don't think you have to have a whole bunch of supplies either. You could do cutouts from magazines, computer printouts, find random "junk" around your house - like old buttons, scarves, ties, laces, etc. that could bedazzle cards. There's no wrong way to make a card!
One thing I would recommend investing in is a cheap stamp set. We didn't do it this time, but use stamps a lot in our card making. You can teach your child to dab the stamp on the ink pad, press onto their paper, and then have a wet paper towel that they wipe across to clean the stamp. This is a fun way for them to get a little messy, but then be able to clean up their own things. Even works with my 3 year old!
Happy Valentine's Weekend!
I'm excited I get a whole date day with my man this Saturday! What do you get to do to celebrate?
