Servants and Kings

Today we took the focus of kings and obedience to what we can learn from being a servant. Our Bible verse was Galations 5:13 By love serve one another. We read and talked about Matthew 20:25-28 where Jesus instructs us to be considered first you must first make yourself a servant.

We played "servants and kings", taking turns being the king. (We had a friend over that participated today.) The king instructed the servants to do anything from physical activity to very creative things such as "get guns and shoot the windows". (I have boys, what can I say?)

One of our favorite activities is to play music and dance around the room. Great creativity, physical training, and pure fun! (And when mommy's not behind the camera I'm right in the thick of playing with them. I have learned to enjoy playing with my kids.)

I try to sit down with each little guy and do something age appropriate with them alone. For Kaden today he wanted to do "spelling", so I had him write the word king and write some rhyming words to king as well.

Will loves books of all kinds. One of our favorites is this flap book. We do all kinds of talking about colors, shapes, counting, matching, etc. (This is one of my great garage sale finds!)

The afternoon brought lots of excitement as we watched tornado warnings all around us. Thankfully we were safe!

And you forgot to mention that they are helping you a lot since you've been on crutches for the last several days! :) I'm glad you're learning to love "play"! ~Mom
