Word Ball

Having 2 boys ages 5 and 3 you can pretty much assume that we don't sit down and do much formal education. These boys want to move and be wild! So we do!
I also don't believe in pushing learning early, but Kaden has had a big interest in reading since he was almost 4 and with no forcing or working regularly he has enjoyed learning to read. (A lot of it probably has to do with the fact that I'm an avid reader and he wanted to join in with me.)

To reinforce his skills and to have some fun we made these word balls. I chose words that he was good at and ones that could be a challenge as well.

The beach type ball works best. The tape sticks better and it's not as hard on Mom to try and catch. Of course with it's bouncy quality it can get quite crazy. We only broke one vase. ;-)
The boys would catch the ball and then read the word that was closest to them. Will just pretended and we cheered him along.

What's cool is that even after we were done with the game they have continued to play with the balls and reading the words. This sure beats sitting down with a boring text book!

Love this! Cole would totally dig ball reading since he always has a ball in his hands.
